Hit-&-Run Crashes in South Carolina

Anderson, SC - Matthew Hatfield Charged in Hit-&-Run on Lakeside Dr

In 2019, there were around 3,836 hit-and-run incidents reported in South Carolina out of a total of 141,000 crashes registered. This represents approximately 2.7 percent of all accidents. Laws governing hit-and-run behavior in South Carolina According to the state’s hit-and-run legislation, every motorist who is engaged in an accident is required to stop their vehicle immediately. It is considered a hit-and-run crime, which carries severe penalties if the offender does not stop.

Claims for wrongful death are unusual in that the individual who was hurt is not the same person who brings the claim. Due to the fact that they were killed in the accident, it is necessary for someone else to pursue the financial compensation that is rightfully owed to the family. Because of the potential for this situation to get complicated when numerous members of a family desire to submit a claim, there are restrictions on who is permitted to file. As a result of this, even if you are the one who pays for the burial or funeral, it is possible that you will not be the one who submits the claim.
