Albany, GA – Shayartta Ashberry Killed in Fatal Truck Accident on Liberty Expy
Albany, GA (July 2, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal truck accident in Albany on Thursday evening, June 30.
According to the Albany Police Department, the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on the Liberty Expressway near the area of exit 6B. Police confirmed that a white Nissan Altima was traveling in the area when it was struck by a tractor-trailer and then a second tractor-trailer. The vehicle finally came to a rest after traveling over the median.
Several local responders, including Albany paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as 36-year-old Shayartta Ashberry, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to serious injuries. The tractor-trailer drivers were injured but are expected to recover.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for some time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
